
The city's Jewish-culture programme
Netanya's Jewish-culture department, run with the Regaim association, holds city-wide events through the year, including Hakafot Shniyot after Simchat Torah, a Tu BiShvat seder, Tikkun Leil Shavuot, a Tisha B'Av night and Yom Yerushalayim events, plus a women's Torah midrasha and a mayor's Tanach circle (Jewish culture (opens in a new tab)).
Sukkot
- The Assiteg International Festival of Theatre for Children and Adolescents runs in Netanya during Chol HaMoed Sukkot. In 2026 it ran from 27 September to 2 October, its 20th year, with 65 performances from Israel and abroad and discounted tickets for residents (GoNetanya (opens in a new tab)).
- The Netanya City Museum held free family activities and tours on Chol HaMoed (28-29 September 2026) (GoNetanya (opens in a new tab)), and Planetanya ran a Sukkot science programme (GoNetanya (opens in a new tab)).
Hanukkah
Hanukkah 5787 begins on the evening of 4 December 2026 (Hebcal (opens in a new tab)). The culture hall's box office lists family shows billed for Hanukkah 2026 from late November into mid-December (Heichal HaTarbut box office (opens in a new tab)).
Other dates
- Yom HaAliyah: the culture hall holds an Aliyah Day celebration show on 12 November 2026 (box office (opens in a new tab)).
- Tu BiShvat and Purim have been marked with events on Kikar HaAtzmaut and at Planetanya in past years (GoNetanya event posts, 2025-2026).
Practical notes
- The Religious Council publishes the city eruv map (eruv map (opens in a new tab)) and a synagogue directory.
- Buses and trains do not run on Yom Tov, as on Shabbat.
- Sanz Beach is closed on Shabbat and holidays (open on Chol HaMoed) (Sanz Beach (opens in a new tab)).
