Dates for 2027-28

As of 9 October 2026 the City of Netanya has not yet published the registration dates for the 2027-28 school year (5788). Its registration-booklets page still lists 2026-27 (registration booklets (opens in a new tab)).

For reference, the 2026-27 timetable was:

Expect the 2027-28 round in a similar January-February window, but check the city site before then.

Who registers

  • Gan registration is compulsory from age 3 and covers children born in 2022 (age 5), 2023 (age 4) and 2024 (age 3) for 2026-27; children who turn 3 after the cut-off cannot be registered (online gan registration (opens in a new tab)).
  • Children already in a municipal gan must be registered again for the next year.
  • You choose a stream first: state (mamlachti), state-religious (mamlachti dati / Haredi state) or recognised unofficial (mukar she'eino rasmi), then gans in your area.

What to bring

The elementary registration department asks for (registration rules (opens in a new tab)):

  • Both parents' Teudat Zehut with the open appendix (sefach) showing the child and your Netanya address.
  • A property-holder (arnona) confirmation in the parents' names matching that address, from the Revenue Division, 4 HaTzoran St. If the arnona is not in your name, a lawyer-signed declaration of residence plus the owner's arnona bill.
  • Divorced or separated parents add a signed consent form; single parents add a population-registry extract.

New residents, olim, returning residents and children with only a passport submit their documents online through the links on the same page.

Mid-year arrivals

Families who arrive after the registration window register at the gan registration department, 12 Tchernichovsky St, entrance floor (on-site gan registration (opens in a new tab)). Bring both parents' IDs with the new address, the Revenue Division address confirmation and a registration-cancellation form from your previous town.

Afternoon programmes

  • Gan tzaharonim are booked online by area and approved by the local community centre (tzaharonim (opens in a new tab)).
  • Nitzanim is the Ministry of Education-subsidised afternoon programme in elementary schools, with study support, clubs and a hot meal (Nitzanim (opens in a new tab)). Ask the school office which operator runs it.

Support for olim pupils

  • The Absorption Department lists in-school programmes for olim pupils (Ya'el in some elementary schools and PeLa in some secondary schools, for pupils up to 10 years in Israel), a summer ulpan for children in August and first-grade preparation workshops for olim (social activities for olim (opens in a new tab)).
  • KIAH's Allé programme supports pupils who came from France in several Netanya schools (KIAH Allé (opens in a new tab)).
  • No source was found for English-medium schools in Netanya.

Special models

Two "young divisions" (hativot tze'irot) at the Begin and Herzog schools teach the compulsory-gan year and first grade together; placement is by home address (general information (opens in a new tab)).
